HOUSTON AREA SCHOOL DISTRICTS
School districts listed are those in or near targeted zip codes. The chart was created using information from GreatSchools Inc a nationwide non-profit organization dedicated to getting parents involved with their children’s education.
Although they may not be considered official, they use a consistent formula for rating school districts and their schools. Their results usually do not contradict state rankings or public opinion. Therefore they are a pretty useful guide when looking at districts overall.
GreatSchools Inc Ratings are based on Texas' state TAKS standardized tests. District Ratings are calculated by taking the Overall Rating for each school in the district and weighting it by the number of students enrolled at the school. We then take the average of the weighted ratings.
*Spring ISD is shaped into almost two entirely different sections. The northern part is located in Spring and the southern section is west of I-45 in the 1960 area. The schools in Spring fare better than those in 1960.
**Schools in Humble (proper) rank low compared to other schools in the Humble ISD which are north and in Kingswood.
